These 89 worksheets are designed to help students practice correcting mistakes in a variety of fun and creative ways. Let’s take a look at one of the great worksheets you can find on Busy Teacher. This worksheet is called “Mistakes That Everybody Makes” and has been used by a number of teachers. It is for elementary learners who need some practice correcting simple grammar mistakes. Unfortunately no answer key is provided but perhaps it will be added later on. Similar worksheets are available and cover a range of topics so choose something that your students will enjoy, need practice on, or both.
Some people believe that being able to recognize mistakes and make corrections is an important part of learning a language. On the other hand, there is a school of thought that maintains that students should not be exposed to intentionally incorrect material as that will only confuse them and hinder their learning. The idea is that if you hear something said incorrectly enough times, it will start to sound correct. Having said that, it is important to have a variety of practice activities so that students do not become bored with the material and classes do not become repetitive. Your approach to teaching and your opinion on this topic will determine whether or not you include this type of activity in your ESL courses.
