Accidental Food Inventions
1) Show the picture and ask what unites all of these things together. Ss can come up with various answers and T agrees if they make sense, but adds if it hasn’t been mentioned that all of these things are accidental food inventions. 2) Ss try to name all of the objects in the pictures. 3) New vocabulary from the stories that might cause problems in understanding is presented on the board by T. 4) Ss in small groups try to match the pictures with the stories. 5) Ss in turns explain how inventing this or that was an accident. 6) Ss individually write down or orally make 8 sentences in third conditional (one for each invention): e.g. If Ruth hadn’t run out of baking chocolate, she wouldn’t have invented chocolate chip cookies.
