This is the social issues section of the site where teachers can find worksheets on topics such as being polite, drug abuse, and child labor. Currently there are 224 social issues worksheets that you can print and use in your own lessons. This worksheet contains a lot of activities based on a reading passage about a study of polite behavior in the United Kingdom. It is for intermediate students and includes some nice practice activities for using comparative and superlative adjectives. You can download the worksheet for free to see if it is suitable for your students; use as many or as few of the activities as you choose and make changes if necessary. There are other worksheets too including listening activities based on songs so take a look at some of them too.
Social issues are important in today’s world. More and more people are taking an interest in events that occur in places hundreds of miles away from where they live. While every country and community has its own social issues, we often focus on the ones facing people in other parts of the world. It is important for students to reflect on the issues their community has, but in a classroom setting it could be less controversial to choose other topics and then relate them to the local community. What you choose to discuss in your classroom will depend on the age of your students and their interests as well as what your school deems acceptable material.
