Phonetics - Letter Combinations
There are some patterns (groups of letters) that students can remember and these will help their reading.
Here's one: the group 'ight' = pronounced /ait/ . Only the first and the last letter of the group are actually pronounced (i and t)
Explain to students this rule and give them examples (light, night, right).
Students will be impressed they are able to READ so many words just by remembering a simple rule.
They will also know how to WRITE these words when they hear them.
