This handout can be used after the students have been previously taught about some graphemes and simple words (e.g. "oo" / "ee"/ "th" / "all" / "ow" / "sh" / "ch"/ "ea" / "ing" / "ink" / "ame"/ "ape"/ "ane"/ "ake" / "ale" ...."ime" / "ipe" / "ine" / "ike" / "ile"/...) The teacher reads out loud the text, pausing and stressing the missing sounds (/i:/ /u:/ etc) which students need to fill the gaps with.
