This power point presentation is part of my series of presentation on past narrative tenses. It introduces the use of past perfect by showing the students well-known items that had been invented before "Student X" was born. You have to choose any student in your class, ask him/her his/her birthday and write the date on the board. So then you ask: "had internet been invented before X was born?", and so on. It was a very good way to introduce this difficult grammar point, the students get the meaning easily in a real context. It also contains some exercises to practice.
