1st step: show/hand out copies of this cloud text (I Have A Dream) and ask students to predict what the text about is or who the author is. Highlight that the larger words are larger because they have a higher frequency in the text. Once students guess that this is the speech of MLK go to step 2.

2nd step: Ask students what information they have about MLK. Try to elicit some important point about his life and work, after having done that, hand out the text with the biography of MLK. Students read the text then answer the questions.

3rd step: hand out the “I have a dream” speech ask students to predict what words they might use to fill in the gaps before listening, it might be use as a pre-listening activity and help students with difficult words. Try not to go through all unknown words as it may be time-consuming as this is a listening activity, feel free to use it as a reading activity if you see it would be good for your class. Listen to the speech and ask students to fill in the gaps. The visual part of the video might be explored as well.

4th step: write on the board “Has his dream come true?” Carry on a discussion on the topic.

5th step: Hand out the worksheet “War Bob Marley” use the song, clip and questions in it to compare this two great messages against injustice and racism.
