A Glass Half-Full or Half-Empty? Warmer
You’ve probably heard more than once the question “Is the glass half-full or half-empty?” Well, I used it as a warmer for my lesson on different perspectives. 1) Bring a half-filled glass of water to class and ask what ss see. 2) Introduce the theory about half-full and half-empty if nobody came up with this answer. 3) Encourage more perspectives (e.g. what does a fish/Greenpeace/a person in Africa think? etc.) 4) Give them the worksheet to do the matching and ask to explain those different perspectives 5) Cut the words of the quote separately and ask your ss to put them together and comment on the meaning. 6) Why is it very important sometimes to have different perspectives on one thing?
