The object of the game is to get the soccer ball through all of the boxes and into the net at the end by finding a path of long vowels. The maze is started for students so that they don't get confused (there are two options in each box). When they are done there is a space for writing down the spelling patterns they notice for these five long vowel sounds. It's best to remind students what the long vowels sounds are before they begin. I write them on the board along with their "color" (colorvowelchart.org) and put students into pairs to complete the task so that they will say the words aloud. Great spelling and pronunciation combo. The answer key is included in the second page.
