Watching a well-presented speech with an interesting topic is a great way to engage students in practising their listening and writing skills. TED Talks offers a variety of speeches. The one I propose here is a speech on whether schools can kill students' creativity. After having watched the speech and having kept notes, the student is asked to write an article presenting th ebasic ideas of the speech. A little internet research is also required. (Depending on the student, you could allow them to have english subtitles perhaps... ) By the way, TED Talks could be used as a prompt for a discussion as well...
