This worksheet is used to practise impersonal passive structures "It + passive + that-clause" and "Subject + passive + infinitive".
1) Give out the cards. 2) The students write three true facts about them in “Stage 1” part of the card. 3) Ask the students to hand in the cards. 4) Shuffle the cards. 5) Give out the cards to the students again. If the students get their own cards they should give them back to you. 6) The students complete “Stage 2” part paraphrasing the facts from “Stage 1” part using phrases ‘is believed to’, ‘is said to’, ‘is thought to’, ‘is rumoured to’. 7) The students read out the rumours from “Stage 2”. 8) The class should guess the person who the rumours are about.
It's good as an ice-breaker or a warming-up activity and helps unite the group.
