Finish the Quote

When beginning a new topic in class, such as cultural perspectives on marriage, put the beginning of a related quote on the board: for example, “Marry in haste, repent at—“(leisure). See if students can supply the rest of the quote.

If they can’t, finish it for them and discuss. This activity not only gets students prepared for the topic but also teaches new language and a quote within their new culture.
