This lecture sheet deals with the notion of conflict in literature. It discusses what a conflict is, as well as outlines and explains the five main types of conflicts possible in literature. Most of the different types of conflicts contain a real-literature example to further explicate the category. I used it as an addition to my literature guide (also published here) to further elaborate on the idea of conflict- which was only touched upon in the guide. It is suggested that prior to delving in a literary piece, both he literature guide and this lecture sheet be presented. In this way, students can understand the notions they will need to analyze the text before they have to do it.
