I teach a class of Japanese adults who love everything about Hawaii, so I put together these two pages to teach them how Christmas is different in Hawaii than the "mainland". Most of the students are beginners, but some are lower intermediate. The first page is an introduction to the culture and some traditions in Hawaii using the words "Also/ Likewise/...,too" or "However/ Although/ On the other hand". It was simple enough for the low beginner students to just join the two sentences together, but was complex enough for the high beginner/low intermediate students to practice fluency and even make sentences of their own. The second page is a listening exercise with Bing Crosby's "Hawaiian Christmas" song. This is an oldie, which was perfect since there is only one verse that repeats over and over again, and the tempo isn't too slow or too fast. It was a total hit with my class!
