This is a great way to teach new learners the meaning of the question words without resorting to translating. I use this with both children and adults. I lay out the question words together on one side and first demonstrate the meanings by verbally giving examples and placing the answer cards ("It is a car") next to the question card (What - "What is it?"). In subsequent classes I have the students lay out the cards in the correct categories.
