This is a step-by-step worksheet to teach students how to celebrate a birthday with a birthday cake. The worksheet also includes a few common birthday vocabulary words. I used this as a warm-up activity. First I asked if anyone had a birthday today. If no, then I asked if anyone has/had a birthday this week. If no, then ask if anyone has a birthday this month. Use that student as an example. I made a fake cake as a prop, and had the class sing happy birthday to the student. Then they can make a wish, and "blow out the candles." This is especially interesting to students in countries that do not use the birthday cake tradition, or for students who are in poorer countries and have never had a birthday cake. Enjoy!
