A lesson on dating customs, used to provoke discussion and introduce related vocabulary with a teenage upper-intermediate group. Students start by discussing which of the customs are traditional and which are more modern, and also if any of them are also true for their own country. They then look more closely at some dating vocabulary, and finish with a free speaking activity comparing modern day dating with the past. This lesson was originally used as a lead-in to a textbook lesson on speeddating, but would serve the same purpose for any unit based around relationships, love or dating or possibly as a stand-alone Valentine's Day lesson. Notes for teachers and an answer key are provided.
