May Worksheet: Bulletin Boards
This seasonal worksheet is called 'May Worksheet: May Bulletin Boards' and was kindly provided by Scholastic, and can be downloaded from their website. It is a three-page instruction sheet for a teacher to cut out different templates for various bulletin boards, to encourage children's activity in classroom and to help them reach their goals or complete their assignments faster. The worksheet presents the following bulletin board variations: 'Fly Away with...', 'Merry May Mural', 'Grow with us!', 'Blooming Flowers' and 'Matching birds and Birdhouses'.
'Fly Away with...' suggests to name each paper bird with a kid's name and post it on the bulletin board as if flying towards the birdhouse. Once the assignment is complete, the bird (child) reaches the birdhouse and should be awarded a small treat.
'Merry May Mural' board gives children a chance to work in groups, each of the groups representing a different level of the 'wall'.
'Grow with us!' is a welcoming board suggesting to add a new flower (with a self-portrait) every time a new student joins the group.
'Blooming Flowers' encourages children to 'plant' paper flower stems with their names into an imaginary garden. When children complete an assignment, a paper flower is added on top of the stem.
'Matching birds and Birdhouses' board can be re-used for any type of activities requiring students to do matching: words and definitions, letter recognition, opposites, etc.
